Parson’s Page
Dear FCC Family,
MISSION! Get ready for a great evening!

On Saturday night November 11th at 7-11pm is "Music and
Missions" at the Grand Opera House. Through Paving Your Way
Outreach, we are hosting award winning singer and
violinist, Theresa Andersson who blends spirituality with
the secular. She has appeared at Jazzfest often and will be
singing the National Anthem in New Orleans. She is from
Sweden but lives in New Orleans now. Special thanks to Rick
Courtney and John Bounds for helping with this event as
well as David Gilmore, Mark Wiggins, Bill Barham and Jamie
Cater!
Rachel Busler Misenar is providing a painting to be
auctioned and we are looking for more ways to raise funds
for our outreach. If you have an idea, let me know!
Sponsors are needed for the evening (see me for details!).
Two mission projects will be supported that evening:

1. CHRISTIE'S CASTLE: Kevin and Christie Roberts are
moving to Clarkdale so Christie can go to school there
since it is on one level and easier for her to walk. Plus
they have a special program for her. Christie was born with
palsy, her mother passed away when she was a baby and she
is being raised by her father Kevin. They joined the church
last year. Dr. Randy and Nancy Nance are helping to build
them an ADA house through their missional homebuilding
business called www.NewGulfHomes.com . Money from the
evening will go toward putting in the foundation and
plumbing. Kevin has secured an electrician and others are
pitching in to make it affordable too!

2. WESTSIDE MISSION in NEW ORLEANS: We will provide some
funds for the continuing work at www.WestsideMission.org in
West Bank New Orleans and tie it in with Theresa
Andersson's music and mission there. We have already funded
and provided a crew to put up a new church facility to
house volunteers from around the country coming to help
with post-Katrina long term recovery!

COST: $30 or 4 tickets for $100 (INVITE YOUR FRIENDS) Tax
Deductible.

In The Mail
To the people of First Christian Church,
Thank you for the gift of food and your warm welcome when I
joined the church.
God bless you all.
Edward E. Buchholz

To whom it concerns,
I would sincerely like to thank you for your generous
contribution of $250.00. I want to express just how proud I
am of the unsurpassed show of support to this community and
the effected areas around us. Our friends such as yourself
and others have provided the much needed services,
supplies, and in kind donations to the thousands of
Hurricane Katrina evacuees and our neighbors. All needs
that the American Red Cross had, were met in an effort to
handle this historic response to Hurricane Katrina. We knew
this operation would test our ability as a community to
adequately provide care for over 2,600 evacuees seeking
food, shelter, and clothing. The compassion of a loving and
caring community was put to the test. We passed with flying
colors…..and I am so proud to be apart of this city, this
county, this community and this country. Our efforts were
tireless and our love, respect and compassion for those in
need were definitely rallied. The cause was great, but your
support was greater.

While our primary goal is to support the survivors of
Hurricane Katrina, we must also be able to respond to the
possibility of more hurricanes, family fires, and teaching
our lifesaving courses. The times ahead will test the
endurance, fortitude, and the flexibility of each one of
us. I take comfort in our shared commitment of citizens,
business owners, and Red Crossers in meeting the
unprecedented needs we face today.

Sincerely,
Phyllis L. Johnson
