Parson’s Page

Dear FCC Family and Friends,

+ Nehemiah's Leadership Lessons continues this weekend with
a message from chapter 4. We have looked at the key points
of great leaders:

1. Charisma
2. Character
3. Courage
4. Collegiality

This Sunday we will see two more characteristics. See if
you can guess what they are after you read chapter 4. The
villains, Tobiah and Sanballat emerge in the drama (hint).

+ A special THANK YOU to Susie Morgan and Sharon Busler for
their scrapbook ministry for Bruce and Eileen Bebensee.

+ This Sunday is the last one for Max and Susie Sulkowski
who are moving to Huntsville to take care of their aging
parents. They improved our worship through the sound system
they donated and we are deeply grateful for them. Susie
worked at EMBDC and did so much for our community. We send
you off with the Spirit of love, joy, peace, patience and
more!

+ Thank you to the Nehemiah builders of the Habitat
Disciples House! What a thrill to be with you as we built a
home for Barbara and her two children! Thank you to Johnny
Wray with Week of Compassion who paid for the house, to
Scott Morgan who provided the flooring, and many of you who
worked on site or prepared meals. Thank you to Jane Swanson
and the CWF for your behind the scenes and consistent
ministry!

+ September 10: Rally Day (New SS Classes and Board Mtg
for Ushers and Deacons!

Love and Joy!

WOMEN’S RETREAT
for Mississippi Disciple Women
How about a great girl’s night out in early September? We
are traveling to the Duncan Gray Center, outside of Canton,
MS, on September 9-10. Departure time is early Saturday
morning, and we will be home by 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
The retreat speaker will be Rev. Lois Artis. Planned
activities include interest workshops, and a special art
presentation by our own resident master, Charlie Busler!
We already have four signed up to attend, and want to bring
as many as possible from Meridian. We can even have our own
cabin with as few as six in our group. Please contact Jane
Swanson for all details as soon as possible, as the
registration deadline is September 1st.

Who from their labors rest…

Flowers for the Santuary
Once again we find ourselves without fresh flowers for the
Sunday morning worship services. None are on the schedule
for the month of September and the rest of the year is
sparse as well.
If you would like to make this a part of your ministry,
please call the church office and choose a date. Your
dedication will be listed in the newsletter and the
bulletin.

There will be a sign up sheet in the Fellowship Hall for
the Property and Grounds ministry team. If you are
interested in serving on this team, please write your name
on the list.
Grady Hinson is chair of Property and Grounds.
