Dear FCC Family,

"Feel like a nobody? How do you handle discouragement?"
Come to church this Sunday as we begin a summer series
called "Getting a Handle On..."
Anna Covington did an outstanding job of sharing the
good news through the theme of facing our fears! She is
indeed gifted with the Spirit of God and it showed through
her faithfulness to the text, her awareness of various
fears we face, and her hope in Christ who is there even
when we are walking from one cabin to another in the dark
(great camp story!).
Sundays are a chance for us to be centered, to be
still, to be aware of the bigger picture beyond ourselves.
As I sat in the balcony for the first time in five years, I
was able to sense your faithful worship, your hunger for
God, and your songs of thanksgiving. It is a joy to be with
you at FCC.
The Medina Ohio group finishes their work on the
"DISCIPLES HOUSE" with Habitat for Humanity led by Jerrell
Polk, Benn Covington, Joe Johnson, Pete Willis, and others.
Thank you to the CWF for your lunches, to Lisa Moore for
her goodie basket for the Ohio Group, to John Bounds for
his mission house, and to all who are helping with the
Disciples House!
This house is sponsored by FCC and funded by Week of
Compassion (over $40,000). We are a mission station this
summer for other Disciples of Christ church groups!
A special thank you to Robin Johnson for representing
FCC women at the "Mix in 06" celebration in Indiana this
past week. Robin is a key leader in our church, region and
denomination. We are very proud of you Robin!

See you at the Table.

Love,
Pastor Tom

The Beth Moore Bible Study will not meet this Tuesday, July
4th, but will resume the following Tuesday, July 11th.

Habitat Meals
The habitat meals project is in full action. This week we
are hosting 8 men from First Christian of Medina, Ohio.
Barbara Bosarge of the Elizabeth Barnes Circle is in charge
of the daily meals this week, and thanks go out to the
women preparing a lunch each day for these men and our
local volunteers also. Next week, July 3rd –July 7th, the
meals will be prepared by members of the Marjorie Griffin
circle, with Kay Wolfe in charge. Then, Karrie Goodman of
the Jo Ann Apperson circle will coordinate the meals for
the week of July 10th -14th. If you have not been contacted
by these women for a specific task, please call them, or
better yet, bring a surprise snack to the kitchen any day!
The workers plan to eat lunch each day around 12 noon. The
church is providing all paper products and instant tea.
Next week we will have a group of 17 people coming in, so
all gifts of prepared food will certainly be appreciated.
For any questions, please contact Jane Swanson.

CMF Playground Tiles
Are you looking for a fun and worthwhile activity for your
children this summer? Well, we’ve got the perfect answer!
Simply go by the Cubby Hole on the corner of 9th Street and
23rd Ave. where you and your children can put your artistic
talents to work designing a 6”x 6” ceramic tile, which will
be permanently displayed on the wall in our new playground.
Adults are also invited to contribute their own designs of
artwork, bible verse, etc.
The cost is $20 each, payable at the Cubby Hole. This is a
fundraiser for our Christian Men’s Fellowship as we
continue to work to improve and make additions to our new
playground.

Congratulations to Jennifer Purvis and Jason Walton who
were united in marriage on June 23rd.

MIX in ‘06
Carol Lee and Robin Johnson want to thank the Disciple
Women for the financial assistance which allowed them to
attend the Mix in ’06 this past weekend.
They had a wonderful time meeting new friends and getting
reacquainted with some old friends.
Carol and Robin both commented on the great quality of the
music, the speakers and the worship experience.
Thank you Carol and Robin for representing us so well!

Quote for the Day
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed
in overalls and looks like work.
