Parson’s Page Dear FCC Family, This week we have three distinct mission experiences where we are finding FCC with some BOLD MOVES! 1. Relay for Life: FCC Members are gathering to walk, to share stories, to fellowship and to raise money for the fight against cancer. It is a wonderful exhibit of the kingdom of God on earth. Vocations become platforms for ministry as banks, hospitals, businesses, schools and churches gather their teams for one cause. This focused mission event reminds the world that people do care, that life is worth living, and there is a place for everyone to get into the action. A hearty thank you again to Steve, Jeff and Billy for leading us this year and to Charlie and Sharon Busler for the tshirts and of course "Katrina's Magnolia!" Enjoy the event at Ray Stadium Friday night! 2. Belize Mission Trip: Ten. FCC members are in San Ignacio Belize beneath Mexico where we are offering support of Billy White Village. The school has three teachers and 65 students in a very poor area of western Belize. We are providing new construction projects including plastering of classroom floors, building a teachers' restroom, and helping with home repairs. In the afternoons after school, we provide a VBS for the community! Thanks for your support and prayers. 3. Habitat for Humanity: 2512 26th Street is the location of our local mission project and THE DISCIPLES HOUSE! It is provided by funds from Week of Compassion and will be built by FCC members, Disciples of Christ congregations arriving in late June and through July! Contact Sarai Ann Webb for details! Work is underway now and a group unloaded the trusses, the slab has been poured and we are waiting for you! Needed: construction helpers, lunches and snacks for incoming groups. Contact Jane Swanson (CWF) to help with meals. Mission on! Sarai Ann IN THE MAIL Dear Pastor Tom, Church staff and FCC family, You have been so dear to us with all of your kind and thoughtful deeds. The “to cheer you” flowers, the sweet notes and especially your prayers, have been so greatly appreciated. Tom we will forever be grateful to you for being there with us when we needed a “loved one” to lean on. We both thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We are doing well. Cliff feels good, looks good and has a happy outlook. We have a positive attitude and we are taking one day at a time. With God in heaven and friend and family on earth everything will be alright. In Christ Love, Martha and Cliff Walker Meals for Habitat Workers The women of the church will be providing special lunch meals each weekday during the three weeks (possibly four) beginning June 25th for groups that will be coming in from out of state to work on our habitat house. I will contact the group circles to be in charge of a week. Please contact me to volunteer during those weeks, but I will be out of town until Friday, June 16th. Also, supplies for sandwiches, snacks, and drinks will be bought and placed in the kitchen of the church for use by our local church members who work through the lunch hour during these next two weeks beginning June 12th. These supplies will be replenished as needed, and will serve to help those who need a break during the hot hours of the day while working on the house. This will be a "help-yourself" relief spot. Anyone who wishes to bring extra treats for the workers should bring them to the church kitchen. Church members who are working on the habitat house are asked to enter through the back kitchen door, and see the office staff in the Merritt house if the church is locked. This is a major and long term undertaking by the women of the church, and help will be needed from all of us. Thanks, Jane Swanson The Flowers at the baptistry are to the glory of God and in honor of the FCC staff by the Marjorie Griffin Circle.
