Parson’s Page
Dear FCC Family,
"You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon
you and you will be my witnesses..." These last words of
Jesus to the apostles will be fulfilled this Sunday as we
celebrate Pentecost. Days after Jesus ascends, the Spirit
descends and "condescends" toward us for one reason: to
make us bold.
Bold. Would that describe your faith? Bold to reach
out? Bold to bake a cake for a new neighbor or visit a
hospital, a nursing home or a prison? When the Holy Spirit
comes upon a comfortable church, watch out! The gospel is
on the go, and the people are primed for praise! A spirited
people get into the game, lifting their hands to help the
team. I pray that we may be a bold church for Christ's
mission to the needy.
What prevents us from being bold for Christ? Fear of
being a radical? Worrying about what others might think? Is
there anyone in our midst eager to step out and live a
simple life? Is there anyone in our church considering
downsizing? Is there a member who is considering a career
change that provides more time for family?
The Spirit of God will fall again on us this
Sunday...and I look forward to being with you. You have to
be present to win! So don't miss this big Sunday! Get
powered up this Sunday for a new year of ministry and
mission!!!!
Love and Grace.
